CEDAR FALLS - Marv Bennett, 69, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, April 22, 2006 at Allen Hospital, Waterloo, of complications from cancer.

He was born Dec. 14, 1936, in Brooklyn, N.Y., son of Morris and Pearl Joseph Zuck. He married Diana Van Gundy on Jan. 16, 1960, in Camanche.

He served in the U.S. Navy for four years active and four years reserve. He was employed with John Deere as an electrician, retiring in 1997 after 26 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, baseball and crossword puzzles, but most of all, he loved his family dearly.

Survived by his wife; a son, Steven William (Sara) of Macomb, Ill.; four daughters, Vanessa (David) Ebling of Bristow, Linda (Dean) DeVries of Carroll, and Melanie (Rick) Abbas and Bobbi (Ryan) Abbas, both of Aplington; 16 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a sister, Shelley Saarella of Los Angeles.

Preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Phyllis Jarboe.

Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories, with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Military rites will be conducted by Becker-Chapman Post 138 American Legion and Waterloo Post 1623 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and for an hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
