CEDAR FALLS - Dennis S. Poppy, 50, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital, Waterloo.

He was born Jan. 21, 1963, in Dubuque, son of James D. and Charleen Miller Poppy. He married Cindy Ireland in June 1994, and they later divorced.

Mr. Poppy served in the U.S. Marine Corps and earned a bachelor's degree from Kaplan University. He was employed in computer networking with Mudd Advertising.

Survived by a son, Sean J. of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Alexa Poppy of Cedar Falls; his parents of Vista, Calif.; and a sister, Linda Logan of San Marcos, Calif.

Preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Willard and Margaret Poppy; and maternal grandparents, Howard and Florence Miller.

Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Richardson Funeral Service and also for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
