CEDAR FALLS - Zelma May Hoffman, 91, of the Western Home Communities Martin Center, died there Wednesday, April 19, 2006.

She was born Aug. 26, 1914, in Faulkner, daughter of Gottlob F. and Norma Frank Laipple. She married Charles M. Hoffman on July 19, 1949, in Hampton. He died Aug. 10, 2001.

She received her two-year teaching certificate from the University of Northern Iowa and taught elementary school in the surrounding area for 17 years. She also did substitute teaching for several years.

Survived by two daughters, Ruth Elaine Hoffman of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and Linda Beth (Dan) Holm of Cedar Falls; and two granddaughters.

Preceded in death by a brother, Aron Laipple.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, Cedar Falls, with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Ackley. Public visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Richardson Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Conestoga Council of Girl Scouts-Campership Fund.
