WATERLOO -- David Elwyn Norcott, 91, of Vancouver, Wash., formerly of Waterloo, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at Oregon Health Science University, Portland, Ore.

He was born Sept. 15, 1922, in Waterloo.

Mr. Norcott served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater. He delivered papers and magazines as a youngster, later advancing into careers as an auto mechanic and machinist for John Deere. Following training through the International Correspondence School of Scranton, Pa., he went on to work 52 years in the field of engineering. He held licenses as a professional land surveyor in Oregon, Washington and California as well as the Professional Draftsman of America and worked for numerous municipalities throughout the United States.

Survived by: three sons, Todd (Sophia) Norcott of Vancouver, Wash., Floyd (Carole) May of Trout Dale, Ore., and Terry (Sandi) Norcott of Roseberg, Ore.; two daughters, Kathy Allred of Reno, Nev., and Retha Ann Handa of Bonsall, Calif.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Floyd (Margaret) of Squim, Wash.; and the family of Tanya Mendoza of Waipahu, Hawaii.

Preceded in death by his wife, Laurene Marie in 2012; his parents; two brothers; a sister; and five grandchildren.

Graveside services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Garden of Memories with military rites by Evansdale AMVETS Post 31 and Waterloo AMVETS Post 19. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, is in charge of arrangements.

Most important to David was his relationship with God and enduring love of his personal Savior, Jesus Christ. Supporting his great faith were a number of churches to which we express our gratitude, including Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waterloo, Iowa; Grace Lutheran Church in Rockport, Texas; and Grace Lutheran Church in Vancouver, Washington.
