WATERLOO -- Virginia A. Wehr, 87, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital of natural causes.

She was born Oct. 19, 1926, in Waterloo, daughter of Harold and Anna Buehner Dawson. She married Keith W. Wehr on May 24, 1949, in Waterloo; he died June 13, 1990.

She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1944, and also graduated with a registered nurse degree from Mercy School of Nursing, Dubuque. She was employed as an RN with St. Francis Hospital for over 26 years until she retired.

Survived by three sons, Michael (Stella) of Daytona Beach, Fla., Chris (Myra) of Waterloo and David of Reno, Nev.; two daughters, Patricia (Paul) Kemmer of Waterloo and Annette Wehr of Reno; a son-in-law, Evander Griffin of Reno; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a brother, Larry (Roberta) Dawson of Waterloo; and a sister-in-law, Jeaninne Dawson of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by a son, Gregory; a daughter, Mary Wehr; two brothers, Lester (Hazel) and Harold (Richard) Dawson; and two sisters, Dorothy (Richard) Scheel and Arlene (Donald) Scoggin.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Services on South Street, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church.
