Services for Fred N. Caldwell, 70, of 1432 Glenny Ave., will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Kearns-Dykeman Chapel. Mr. Caldwell died Tuesday morning at University Hospitals in Iowa City.

He was born Feb. 23, 1906, in Aibia, the son of Fred and Lulu Neal Caldwell. He married Mary Bredley Dec. 9,1941, in St. Charles,. Mo. He served with the Army in the South Pacific during World War II. He was employed by the J.C. Penney Company for 22 years. When he retired in 1966 he was manager of the shoe department.

Survivors include his wife: a son, Bradley of Sydney, Australia; a daughter, Nancy Hoppe of Puerto Rico; and a sister, Mrs. John Jensen of Centerville.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials may be given to the First United Presbyterian Church in his name.
