CEDAR FALLS - Lawrence “Larry” R. Graves, 80, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, at NewAldaya Lifescapes.

He was born May 25, 1933, in Dike, son of Henry and Gepka Van Deest Graves. He married Dorothy Aswegen on Dec. 5, 1956, in Aplington.

Mr. Graves graduated from Dike High School, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, farmed, and was employed at John Deere for 30 years, retiring in 1993.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Tim (Mary) of Cedar Falls and Tom (Barb) of Waterloo; three daughters, Tammi (Tim) Staudt of Cedar Falls, Terri (Mike) Joines of Lakeville, Minn., and Traci (Troy) Faulkner of Byron, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; a brother, Raymond (Jo) of Holland, Mich.; two sisters, Irene Neuberger of Cedar Falls and Beverly Tanis of Freeport, Ill.; a brother-in-law, Garrold Bootsma of Sheldon; and a sister-in-law, Bev Graves of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Joe, Marvin, Harold and Dennis; and two sisters, Leona Gronewald and Evelyn Bootsma.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Friday at Orchard Hill Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and for an hour before to services Friday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
