CEDAR FALLS - Arbbie R. Kjemhus, 86, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, June 26, 2006, at Sartori Memorial Hospital.

He was born Jan. 17, 1920, in Minneota, Minn., son of J.R. and Ann Brusaen Kjemhus. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He had been supervisor with Nash Finch Co., Waterloo, and also owned and operated the Falls Avenue Tastee Freeze. He then worked for the Cedar Falls Community School District at Holmes Junior High, retiring in 1987.

Survivors include three daughters, Barbara A. (Robert L. ) Thalman of Dike, Deb (Ron) Flannagan of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Pat Cohen of Tampa, Fla., a stepdaughter, Darlene Kjemhus of Riverside, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Orin and Ruby; and a sister, Marian Hughes.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Guy W. Iversen Cedar Falls AmVets Post 49. Public visitation from noon until services Wednesday at the church. Richardson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the church.
