WATERLOO -- Judy Winkelman Miller, 68, of Waterloo, died at home Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, of natural causes.

She was born Dec. 11, 1944, in Waverly, daughter of Lorenz H. and Dorlena I. Pries Winkelman. She married Ralph Schroedermeier, and they later divorced. She then married Steve A. Miller, and they later separated.

She graduated from Waverly-Shell Rock High School 1963 and later from Wartburg College in 1989 with a bachelor of arts degree in art education with an emphasis in K-12 Christian education. From 1979 to 1984 she co-owned the Flower Bin and then taught art at West High School, Lowell and Kittrell Elementary for 13 years, retiring early in 2002 due to disability. She taught art as a volunteer at Valley Lutheran High School.

She was an active member of Grace Fellowship Church (Grace Brethren Church), and led a Women’s Support Group and Children’s Ministry and worked with Lowell PTA, Girl Scouts, at the church and Whittier PTA.

Survived by two daughters, Angie Wilson and Melissa Sells, both of Waterloo; five grandchildren, Jade and Blake Sells, Jeff and Jon Wilson and Hilary Nelson; and a brother, Richard Winkelman of Bemidji, Minn.

Preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Rodney Winkelman.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Grace Fellowship Church, Waterloo (formerly known as Grace Brethren Church), with burial in Harlington Cemetery, Waverly. Visitation will be for an hour before services Friday at the church. Locke Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Memorials may be directed to Grace Fellowship Church Remodeling Project, Art Department at Valley Lutheran School, 4520 Rownd St., Cedar Falls, Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois 940 Golden Valley Drive, Bettendorf, or Cedar Valley Hospice.
