GREENE, IOWA - Claire Earl Kepple, 96, of Greene, died Tuesday, September 5, 2006, at the Liebe Care Center, Greene.

He was born Aug. 9, 1910, on a farm near Republic, son of Guy and Lydia Adams Kepple. He married Leora Hurd on February 25, 1935.

Mr. Kepple graduated from Marble Rock High School in 1929. During the Depression he worked for John Jesmore in Marble Rock repairing motors. He later was employed by John Deere [Waterloo] until 1946, when he moved to a farm near Greene, where he farmed until 2004. From 1951 to 1970 he operated a saw mill on the farm, doing custom work.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert (Swanie) Kepple of Greene; a daughter, Rita (Bob) Barth of Greene; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Clark (Irene) Kepple of Ionia; and a sister, Virginia Moline of Cushing, Okla.

Preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Linda Kepple; and a brother-in-law, Raymond Moline.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greene, with burial in the church cemetery. Public visitation 4 to 8 p.m. today at Reid#,s Funeral Chapel, Greene, where there will be a 7 p.m. Scriptural wake service.

Memorials may be directed to the family or charity of donor's choice.
