WATERLOO -- Arlene M. Bedard, 89, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at Ravenwood Nursing & Rehab Center.

She was born April 29, 1924, in La Porte City, daughter of Ralph and Matilda Albertsen Brokaw.

She married John G. Bedard Aug. 7, 1948, in Cedar Falls. He died June 28, 1995.

She worked in manufacturing during World War II and then was a homemaker.

Survived by two sons, John Jr. (Karen) of Waterloo and James (Connie) of Washburn; six grandchildren, Michelle (Patrick) Rippentrop, Jimmy Bedard, Joseph Bedard, Teri Bedard, Brian (Suzanne) Bedard and Andrew (Jessica) Bedard; seven great-grandchildren, Melissa (Cory), Michael, Kevin, Katelyn, Tanner, Aidan, Delaina; a great-great grandson, Gavin; and two sisters, Beverly (A.J.) Saak of Cedar Falls and Dorothy Ahlman of Kansas City, Mo.

Preceded in death by a grandson, Thomas Bedard; and a brother-in-law, Roy Ahlman.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, with a 4 p.m. Legion of Mary rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Cedar Bend Humane Society or to the family.
