A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Westminster Presbyterian Church for Merton W. Thornberry, 71 of Cedar Falls Western Home. Mr. Thornberry donated his body to the University of Iowa Medical Center. He died Tuesday afternoon at Allen Memorial Hospital.

He was born Oct. 18, 1909, at Fonda, Iowa, son of Louis and Elsie Cole Thornberry. He married Pearl C. Merry on Jan. 4, 1938, in Waverly.

He was employed 20 years by Memorial Park Cemetery, retiring in 1963. He was employed in later years by the Cedar Falls Park Board.

He is survived by two sons, Stan of West Bend, Wis., and Alan of Hudson; four grandchildren; and a brother, Raymond of Iowa City.

Memorials may be given to the Cardiac Care Unit or Intensive Care Unit at Allen Memorial Hospital.
