EVANSDALE - Rebecca Jo Vanderlan, 47, formerly of Charles City, died Friday (May 7, 1999) at her home in Evansdale.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City. The Rev. Dennis D. Niezwaag and the Rev. Mark Anderson, pastors, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from noon to 9 p.m. today. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue an hour prior to the service at the church Tuesday.

Rebecca Jo Vanderlan was born Aug. 27, 1951, at Charles City, the daughter of Vernon "Van" and Marilyn Hambly Vanderlan. She graduated from the Charles City High School in 1969 and from the University of Northern Iowa.

On May 25, 1974, she was united in marriage to Thomas Dix at Charles City. They later divorced.

Rebecca Jo had been employed as a secretary at John Deere for 12 years and was a secretary at the University of Northern Iowa at the time of her death. She was a member of the Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City. Rebecca Jo enjoyed her dogs, flowers gardening, bicycling and being with her family.

Living family members include a son, Lucas Dix of Milwaukee, Wis., and her parents, Vernon "Van" and Marilyn Vanderlan of Charles City.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
