[Waterloo Courier, Wednesday, March 21, 1877, Waterloo, Iowa]

Died, in Waterloo, Sabbath morning, the 18th of enlargement of the heart, Augusta Shiner, aged 20 years, 1 mo. and 21 days.

Miss Shiner has been troubled with very poor health for six years past, several times being near death's door. The sickness which ended in her death first attacked her on the 14th of last February, since which time she has been a very patient sufferer, only waiting for the Savior's summons to "go home."

The deceased has lived in our midst for the past fifteen years, having been born in Tama County, but coming to this place when five years of age. She has been a member of the Congregational Church for the past four years, and as a Sabbath school scholar was a member of Miss Adams' class, and has thus soon followed her teacher to the "better land."

Miss Shiner evinced by her patient resignation that she has no fears of death, and her only complaint was that she "didn't want to leave mother." She leaves a mother and four brothers to mourn her loss, - one of them is editor of the Holton, Kansas, Recorder.

The post mortem examination made by Dr. G. G. Bickley, the attending physician, revealed the fact that the heart was enlarged fully one-eighth, and the other organs were affected in sympathy.

The funeral was held at the residence of her mother yesterday p.m. Services were conducted by Revs. Carroll and De Forrest.
