Pfc. David Davis Killed in Vietnam

Marine Pfc. David L. Davis, 19, of 1540 W. 11th St., was killed Thursday, 22 miles northwest of Vandergrift combat base, Quang Tri Providence, while engaged in action against hostile forces in Vietnam it was announced Sunday.

He entered the service shortly after graduation from high school in 1968. He was in the Third Marine Division and had been in Vietnam one month and two days.

He was born on Jan. 29, 1950, the son of David Henry and Mary Wymore Davis. He was graduated from West High School in 1968. While in school he was a stockboy at Gil's Ccdarloo Super-Valu. Pfc. Davis was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his parents; two brothers, Daniel and Robert at home; one sister, Mrs. Hugh Weidemann of the Cedar Falls Mobile Home Village; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. O. G. Wymore, Bertch Ave.

He was preceded in death by a sister, in infancy, and by his paternal grandparents.

Funeral arrangements are pending at the Chapel of Memories West, until the arrival of the body.
