LA PORTE CITY -- Bonnie M. Hocken, 92, of Waterloo, formerly of La Porte City, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, of heart failure.

She was born April 20, 1921, in Dysart, daughter of Sumner and Pearl Tullett Snell. She married Clyde "Bud" Hocken in La Porte City on April 6, 1958; he died March 25, 2009.

Mrs. Hocken was a 1939 graduate of La Porte City High School. She worked as a nurse’s aide for many years and also worked as the activity director for Americana Nursing home (Manor Care).

Survived by a brother-in-law, Ralph Hocken of La Porte City; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents; and an infant brother, Donald Dean Snell.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in West View Cemetery, both in La Porte City. La Porte City Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Valley Hospice.

Bonnie and her husband enjoyed square dancing and were former members of the local square dancing club.
