CEDAR FALLS - David E. Rogers, 56, of Waverly, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, April 16, 2005, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, of cancer.

He was born April 29, 1948, in Cedar Falls, son of Lawrence E. and Jeanette Baker Rogers. He married Marla Nicol on May 1, 1969, in Galena, Ill.

Mr. Rogers was a graduate of Cedar Falls High School, and had served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Chandler during the Vietnam War. He worked for several years at Wayne Dennis Supply Co., Waterloo, and worked in the heating and air conditioning industry for many years in the metropolitan area. Until his illness, he had worked for four years at the Waterloo Post Office.

Survivors include his wife; his mother, Jeanette, of Cedar Falls; three sons, Todd D. and Chad L., both of Cedar Falls, and Ryan L. (Jessica L.) of Waverly; a daughter, Michelle (David) Visokey of Fort Dodge; six grandchildren; two brothers, Duane (Anna) of Summerville, S.C., and Larry (Anne) of Olympia, Wash.; two sisters, Darlene (Ivan) McKee and Nancy (George) Dunkelberg, both of Cedar Falls; and his cousin and best friend, Ross (Linda) Chapin of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by his father.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial in Hillside Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Military honors will be conducted by Waterloo Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1623 and Becker Chapman American Legion Post 138. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and for an hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
