WATERLOO - Judine A. Fischer, 65, of 1222 Vine Street, died Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at Allen Memorial Hospital following a short illness.

Judine was born the first child of Earl C. Matthiesen and Elda (Buss) Matthiesen at Allen Hospital on September 10, 1939. She grew up in Denver, Iowa, graduating from Denver High School in 1957. She worked for Dr. Ross Randall as a receptionist from 1960-1976. She also worked part-time in other medical and dental offices and the Waterloo School System, retiring in 2000.

She was united in marriage to Robert Fischer on April 27, 1974, at St. Paul Church of Christ in Denver.

She is survived by her husband Robert of Waterloo and sons, William (Sherry) of Pleasant Hill, IA; Mark (Tracy) of Clarksville, Tenn., and Matthew (Jennifer) of Urbandale, IA. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Taylor, Nathan and Noah Fischer, her mother, Elda Matthiesen of Waterloo, and sister, Jan (Bill) Kelsey of Auburndale, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Judine was an active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and the WELCA Auxiliary. She was also active as a Gallagher-Bluedorn usher, was a reading buddy to Edison third graders. She helped with Meals on Wheels twice a month and was an active volunteer at Parkview Nursing Home. Judine was a Precious Moments collector, ceramic bell collector and collected angels. In her spare time she cross-stitched and both attended Iowa football games and watched the Hawks on T.V. Judine was a lover of flowers and each year she tended to two beds of Impatiens in front of the house on Vine Street and those walking by commented on their beauty.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Savior#s Lutheran Church, Waterloo, with burial in Fairview Cemetery in Denver.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway and for an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be made to Our Savior#s Seminary Tuition Fund or Wartburg College.
