Elsie Mae Stamp, of Cedar Falls, beloved of her family and friends, died of natural causes February 12, 2009, at Sartori Hospital at the age of 93.

Elsie was born April 10, 1915, on a farm in Dundee, Iowa to Henry Smith and Elsie May Smith. She had an older brother, Laurence. She worked on the family farm and attended school in Dundee. Elsie married Harold Baumgartner November 25th, 1934 in Strawberry Point, Iowa. They met when she was eight and living on farms two miles apart. They had two children, Jean Ann (Baumgartner) Cunningham and Gary L. Baumgartner.

Harold passed away on April 25th, 1965. Elsie was married to Arnold Stamp April 10, 1976. Arnold passed away in January of 1987. Elsie adored her children, who, along with their spouses, took loving care of her later in life. Elsie also loved and was loved by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as many close friends, including those who considered her to be "Mom Elsie". She is now in the loving arms of her Lord.

Elsie is survived by her son Gary (Joan) Baumgartner of Cedar Falls her son-in-law Mel Cunningham of Waverly; her grandchildren, Dr. Dan (Debra) Cunningham of Montgomery, Alabama; Susan (Rich) Burk of Casper, Wyoming; and Melanie (Scott) Wirtz of Cedar Falls; and five great-grand children, Kelly and Kathleen Cunningham, James and Michael Burk, and Carson Wirtz. She is also survived by her step-children Jean Morse, of Leesburg, Florida, Cheryl Cole of Sumner and Timothy Stamp of Laramie, Wyoming, as well as several step-grand and great-grand children.

She was preceded in death by her husbands Harold Baumgartner and Arnold Stamp, her brother Laurence Smith, her daughter Jean Ann Cunningham, and stepson Dalton Stamp.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 16, 2009, at St. John Lutheran Church with interment in Fairview Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and for one hour prior to service time at the church. Elsie asked that memorials be directed to St. John Lutheran Church (Cedar Falls) or Cedar Valley Hospice.
