WATERLOO — Doris Spears, 88, of Waterloo, died Monday, Nov. 20, 1995, at Allen Memorial Hospital of natural causes..

She was born Aug. 16, 1907, in Strood, Kent, England, daughter of George and Ellen Eliza Eaton Francis. She married Roy L. Spears on Aug. 17, 1926, in Waterloo. He died Oct. 27, 1982.

Mrs. Spears was a clerk for number of years at both Woolworth's and Gauss Drug. She also ushered at the Strand Theatre for a number of years.

Survived by two sons, Ronald D. of Waterloo and Wayne K. of Denver; a daughter, Marjorie E. Burkholder of Overland Park, Kan.; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marjorie Beaton of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by an infant son, Ronald; three brothers, George, Albert "Tub" and John Francis; and a sister, Florence "Flossie" Robinson.

Burial will be at 10:15 a.m. Friday at Garden of Memories Cemetery, with a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Hammond Avenue Brethren Church. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Parrott & Wood Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to the family for benevolent projects.
