WATERLOO - Kathryn D. Halvorson, 63, of Meriden, Conn., formerly of Waterloo, died Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at Connecticut Hospice, Branford.

She was born Aug. 9, 1941, in Waterloo, daughter of Carl and Betty Phelps Jones. She married Vernon Halvorson.

Mrs. Halvorson was president of United Methodist Womans group of First United Methodist Church in the 1980s. She had worked for Waldbaums Foodmart for many years in the meat department throughout the state of Connecticut.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Dean of Meriden; two daughters, Tamara (Peter) Medved of East Hampton, Conn., and Brenda Halvorson of Wallingford, Conn.; a half brother, Tony Jones of Waterloo; two sisters, Sharon Hayes and Bonnie Swanson, both of Missouri; and a half sister, Doris Boogren of Waterloo.

Services: were March 28 at First United Methodist Church, Meriden, with private burial. Szymaszek-Taylor Funeral Home, Meriden, was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
