WARREN, CONVERSE

Sunday, at 1:30 in the afternoon, Mr. C. F. Warren passed away, aged eighty-three.

He was born April 4, 1820, and came to Black Hawk County, Iowa, in 1853. He was one of the pioneer settlers in Kane County, Illinois, locating there in the early forties. He and his good wife lived there, until they came to Cedar Falls in 1853, living in the South part of the city until 1858 when they bought the farm upon which he had lived ever since, four miles northeast of the city. His wife died twenty-two years ago. There was no particular disease but a gradual wasting of the vital forces. He dearly loved his home and surroundings anil was deter mined to die in the home in which he had lived for so many years.

He left no children but had lost two many years ago. His step grand-daughter, Mrs. Harry W. Conrad, has been devoted to his every comfort for many years. No child could have done more for a parent than she has for him. Her father, Mr. Charles M. Greene, of Plainfield, Illinois, is expected today. Mr. and Mrs. H W. Conrad have a son, Leo Conrad, who with his wife have lived at home and rendered assistance as needed for the venerable gentleman, who lived his more than four score years, retaining to the last his faculties.

The funeral services will be held tomorrow at one o'clock at the home, Rev. J. E. Soowden conducting the services. Interment at Hillside Cemetery.

He was the last of a large family of six brothers and one sister to be called to his home. One of his brothers, Dr.. Warren, will be remembered by many of our older citizens.

Charles' parents were David Warren (1778 - 1853) and Mary Converse Warren (1784 - 1862). The parents are buried in Fairview Cemetery, Wardsboro, Vermont.
