WATERLOO - Stanley J. Kacher, 87, of Waterloo, died Friday, June 16, 2006, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.

He was born Feb. 19, 1919, in Little Turkey, son of John and Stella Shinlar Kacher. He married Eleanor I. Clink on Dec. 30, 1940, in New Hampton.

Mr. Kacher was employed with Rath Packing Co. for 34 years, retiring in 1984. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, AMVETS Post 19 and a proud member of the AMVETS Honorguard.

Survived by his wife; three sons, Stanley P. (Kathy) of Anchor Point, Alaska, Ronald A. (Annie) of Waterloo and Ricky P. of Grand Rapids, Mich.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by three brothers, James, John and Frank; and two sisters, Pauline and Adeline.

Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Edward's Catholic Church, with entombment in Mt. Olivet Mausoleum. Full military rites will be conducted by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Public visitation for an hour before services Tuesday at the church. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the AMVETS Scholarship Fund.
