WATERLOO - Lloyd A. Wissink, 85, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, April 15, at Allen Hospital of natural causes.

He was born April 21, 1923, in Waterloo, son of Ludwig and Elsa Tribon Wissink. He married Martha J. Davis on Feb. 26, 1950, in Waterloo.

Mr. Wissink was a farmer, retiring in 1988. He also was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He was a member of St. John's Bennington Lutheran Church and served as president, as well as holding other offices in the Lutheran Brotherhood over a 50-year period. He was active in Farm Bureau, 4-H, the Republican Party and various bowling leagues. The past 15 years he resided in Gilbert and belonged to Gilbert Lutheran Church.

Survived by his wife of Waterloo; three daughters, Rebecca R. (Dick) Martin of Wake Forest, N.C., Jacquelyn J. (Charles) Olson of Ames and Janet J. (Keith) Custer of Dunkerton; seven grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; and a brother, Marvin (Bonnie) of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by a brother, Albert; and a sister, Emily Quigley.

Services: 1 p.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Bennington Township Church, with burial in Bennington Township Cemetery. Public visitation noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the church. Garden View Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
