Elgin Echo, Elgin, Iowa, Thursday, 13 August 1903.

The three-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Meyers, of Dewar, was recently burned to death in a very peculiar manner. It is supposed the child was playing about the room after awakening, and in some manner got hold of matches, which he lighted. The flame was thus conveyed to the outing flannel night gown, which the child wore, and the body so badly burned that death resulted.
