GILBERTVILLE - Helen A. Fischels, 87, of Gilbertville, died at home Monday, Sept. 23, 2013.

She was born March 7, 1926, in Butler County, daughter of Harold R. and Vera Fitzpatrick Flynn. She married Irvin Henry Fischels on Oct. 14, 1947. He died Nov. 18, 2005.

Mrs. Fischels was a homemaker.

Survived by three sons, John of Washburn, Pat (Kathy) of Gilbertville and Dave (Peytie) of Buford, Ga.; a daughter, Sheryl (Steve) Johnson of Cedar Falls; eight grandchildren, Daryn Fischels, Dana Fischels, DeAnn Wroten, Shannon Kayser, Damian Fischels, Tom Johnson, Jill Johnson and Amanda Fischels; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Phyllis (Dellon) Foster of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by her parents.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, both in Gilbertville. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, Waterloo, with a 4 p.m. rosary. Visitation also an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
