CEDAR FALLS -- Ruth Irene Dickinson, 89, of Washburn, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.

She was born Oct. 4, 1923, in Cedar Falls, daughter of Ira L. and Leona S. Hoxie Byers. She married Max R. Dickinson on Dec. 15, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo.; he died May 31, 2000.

She graduated from Cedar Falls High School.

Survived by a son, Kenneth of Washburn; five grandchildren, Keith Steimel, Douglas (Tara) Steimel, Laura (Bob) Rose, Carolyn (Tony) Del Giudice and Elizabeth Dickinson; 11 great-grandchildren, Nichole (Jeff) Bramow, Jason, Justin and Natalie Steimel, Dylan and Sydney Steimel, Tessa and Kinnick Steimel, Courteney, Lyndesey and Lane Rose; and a great-great-grandchild expected in December.

Preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Patricia Steimel, a granddaughter, Amber Steimel; two brothers, Ralph and Harold Byers; and a sister Helen Jensen.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
