WATERLOO --- Verla Marie Musch, 86, of Waterloo, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at Parkview Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born Aug. 4, 1927, in Tripoli, daughter of Albert and Bertha Schumacher Gielau. On June 6, 1948, she married Herbert H. Musch at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Denver. He died Feb. 17, 1996.

Mrs. Musch attended country school west of Denver through eighth grade. She worked at Allen Hospital in housekeeping and Powers Manufacturing for many years.

Survived by a daughter, Debra Jean Musch of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Lori Musch and Jeff Musch, both of St. Paul, Minn.; a daughter-in-law, Debra K. Musch of St. Paul; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dean; a sister, Alberta Gielau; and two brothers, Albert and Harold Gielau.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Denver, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today and an hour before services Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Bend Humane Society, Waterloo, or charity of donor’s choice.

Verla enjoyed caring for her garden while on the farm, as well as looking after the farm animals. She was an animal lover, especially cats and dogs. Her grandchildren were very important to her; she cherished time spent with them.
