Bonnie J. Stokes (Sippel), 84, of Laramie, Wyo., passed on Sept. 17, 2013.

Born Aug. 7, 1929, in Cheyenne, Wyo., to Mabel J. Sippel (Peddicoart) and Mason J. Sippel who homesteaded between Laramie and Cheyenne. Bonnie’s older brother, Lance Sippel, preceded her in death.

She grew up in Evansdale where her father built houses. She married Berthal (Blackie) D. Stokes in 1969.

She is survived by her daughters, Gail Garman of Blaine, Wash., and Ann Hild and Zackie Salmon of Laramie; son-in-law Keats Garman; former spouse David Hild; grandson Glen Hansen and family of Oelwien; and many adopted daughters throughout the West.

Her husband Blackie, and her son Michael J. Witmer of Waterloo preceded her in death.

Bonnie taught her daughters independence, resilience and a love of animals. Donations can go to Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, or local Animal Shelters.
