WATERLOO - James Kent Beard, 56, of Waterloo, died Thursday, Sept. 19, at Sartori Memorial Hospital, Cedar Falls.

He was born May 14, 1957, in Waterloo, son of Clarence and Allene Hamilton Beard. He served in the U.S. Army and was a musician most of his life.

Survived by a sister, Carol (Steve) Pieper of Eldridge; and a brother, Tom (Sandy) of Mount Horeb, Wis.

Preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Patty Babcock; and a brother, Frank.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Monday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, preceded by an hour of visitation, with inurnment in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49.
