West Des Moines - Helen Louise Ladd, 82, died Thursday, November 10, 2005, at Taylor House after a lengthy illness. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, November 14 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in West Des Moines. A graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Waterloo.
Helen lived most of her life in Waterloo, moved to Cedar Rapids in the mid 1970s and to the Des Moines area 5 years ago. She graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School in Waterloo in 1941. She owned and operated Neotech, a sign company in Cedar Rapids, with her husband Don. Helen was affiliated with St. John's Catholic Church in Waterloo, St. Edward's Catholic Church in Waterloo, St. Pius X Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in West Des Moines. She was a member of the Wives of Submarine Vets of WWII. She enjoyed needlework and counted cross stitch.
Helen is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Cornman of West Des Moines and Laura (Donald) Gregorich of Berkley, MI; a son, Thomas (Linda) Ladd of West Des Moines; a brother, Joseph (Mary Lou) Penne of Corpus Christi, TX; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her parents, Paul and Laura Penne; and her son-in-law, Bill Cornman.
Visitation will begin at 12 noon Sunday at Dunn#'s Funeral Home with the family present from 3-5 pm and a vigil service at 5 pm.
