William Walker, 83, of 87 Adams Street, died at Allen Memorial Hospital at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday after being overcome by gas escaping from two burners on a stove in his home.
Neighbors called police when they saw him sitting motionless in a chair near the kitchen window. Dr. Sidney Smith, county coroner, pronounced the cause of death as accidental Wednesday.
Mrs. Rex Ball. Kansas City, Mo.. a sister, and another sister are known to survive.
His wife, Stella, preceded him in death.
The body is at O'Keefe & Towne Funeral Home.
