LA PORTE CITY - Virgil L. Hook, 78, of La Porte City, died Saturday, July 8, 2006, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.

He was born May 24, 1928, in Pleasant Valley, son of Ointje and Lena Walters Hook. He married Sharon White in 1975, and they later were divorced.

Mr. Hook farmed and also operated the La Porte City Sale Barn for many years.

Survived by a sister, Esther Rommann of La Porte City; and two stepchildren, Cindy Siljkovic of Evansdale and Steven White of Michigan.

Preceded in death by six brothers: Ben, Orville, Vern, Anno, Herman and Rudolph; and four sisters, Grace Hook, Laura Hook and Anna Hook, and Lena, in infancy.

Services: are planned for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Huisman Funeral Home, with burial in Westview Cemetery, both in La Porte City. Public visitation for two hours before services Tuesday at the funeral home.
