Leonard Kristiansen, 85, of Nashua, died April 1, 2010, at Floyd County Medical Center Hospice Unit, Charles City after an extended illness.

He was born on March 6, 1925, in Cedar Falls, son of Neils Kristiansen and Marian Marne Bryhl Kristiansen. He married Mary Jean Bennor on Oct. 10, 1953, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua.

He graduated from Nashua Community High School in 1943 and entered the U.S. Army Air Force in 1943. He served in Okinawa repairing B-29's returning from Tokyo, Japan. He farmed southwest of Nashua and raised black angus cattle. He was an inspector at the former Oliver Corp. and a finish welder at Hydrotile, of Nashua, retiring in 1990. He was member of John Lutheran Church, Nashua.

Survived by: his wife, Jean; two daughters, Laurie of Nashua and Sara (Dale) Jansen of Cedar Falls; a granddaughter, Jeanne Edson of Nashua; a sister, Edna Mae (Dr. James) Johnson of Cherokee, and a sister-in-law, Carol (Bennor) Fisher of Plymouth..

Preceded in death a brother, Harold; two sisters, Evelyn and Anna Schwerin; and a brother-in-law, Clair (Skip) Fisher.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Nashua, with military graveside rites conducted by the Nashua VFW Post 6792. Public visitation from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hugeback-Chenoweth Funeral Home, Nashua and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
