Clarence K. Cropper, 79; Funeral Services Friday

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday afternoon for Clarence K. Cropper, 79, retired Waterloo businessman, who died at about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at his home in Friendship Village, of a heart attack.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Katherine Graham Pahl Memorial Chapel in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery, with Dr. Charles Jacobs, pastor of the First Congregational Church, officiating. Friends may call at the Parrott & Wood Funeral Home until noon Friday. The casket will not be opened at the funeral services.

Mr. Cropper was one of the founders of the Dunkelberg, Leeper and Cropper Lumber Col, which is now the Fullerton Lumber Co. In 1929 he founded the Wood Products Co. He also founded the Waterloo Wood Bearing Co. He retired in 1953.

Mr. Cropper was a veteran of World War I and served in the U.S. armed service in France. He was a member of the Elks Club and the Sunnyside Country Club and had served as treasurer of the Waterloo Hawks baseball team. During World War II, he served as chairman of the tire panel of the Waterloo ration board. He was also on the emergency central emergency central tire panel, which rationed large size truck and bus tires in the Des Moines district and of the Office of Price Administration.

He was born on Jan. 20, 1891, in Cedar Falls, the son of Herbert and Ida Knapp Cropper. He married Hazel Johnson on April 14, 1921, at Moravia.

Mr. Cropper was graduated from East High school. He also was graduated from Lombard College with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1912.

He is survived by his wife at home; two sons, Joseph of 14 Winter Ridge Road and William of Canton, N.Y.; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by one sister.
