WATERLOO — Russell Dean Damme, 73, of Waterloo, died Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, from complications of a stroke.

He was born March 30, 1940, in Waterloo, son of Merrill and Marjorie Brandt Damme. He married Evelyn Pullen on Sept. 8, 1962, in Preston, Minn. They were later divorced. He then married Kathy Schmit on Aug. 15, 1975, in Gilbertville, and they were later divorced.

Mr. Damme was employed at John Deere for 30 years, retiring in 1987.

Survived by his stepmother, Adrienne Damme of Waterloo; three sons, Russell (Lavon) of La Porte City, George of Evansdale and Dana (Michelle) of Gilbertville; a daughter, Brandy (Traci) Sommerfelt of Antioch, Ill.; a sister, Charlotte Cameron of Waterloo; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and five stepgrandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Robert and Stanley.

Services: 10 a.m. Friday at Kearns Funeral Service-Kimball Chapel, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
