Lori Ann English was born in Cedar Falls, Iowa on July 6, 1965, the daughter of Mary Ann & Richard E. Lindeman. Lori was raised in Hudson, Iowa and graduated from the local high school with the class of 1983. She then attended the University of Northern Iowa and earned a degree in accounting. Lori came to Des Mones are in the early 1990's and was employed with the Principal Financial Group. Lori's attention to detail was ehlpful to her throughout her life and career. Her other passion was her church, she was a member of the Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines and was also in the choir, and she was deeply involved in her missionary work in Jamaica. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior early in her life and she grew in faith throughout her life. Her mission was to get others to join her in faith. She was currently planning her August wedding to Tom Torpy and they were enjoying the creation of their new home and life together.

Lori was at home when she passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at the age of 42 suddenly from an embolism.

She was preceded in death by her father, paternal grandparents, Wilford & Lorraine Lindeman and maternal grandparents, Lester & Ella J. Worthington.

Her memory is cherished by her fiancee, Tom of West Des Moines and his children: Zach, Talia, & Taitum, her mother, Mary Ann (Bob) Sothman of Ava, Missouri, her siblings: Scott Lindeman of Dysart, Iowa, Sue (Rick) Heth of Elk Run Heights, Iowa, JoLynn (Jeryl) Ashe of Houston, Texas, and Jill (Mike) Cleveland of Roswell, New Mexico, her step brothers: Kyle Sothman of Atlantic, Iowa & Tracy (Stacey) Sothman of Bennington, Nebraska, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation and funeral ceremonies will be held at the Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines. Visitation will be on Sunday, April 13 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and her funeral services will be on Monday, April 14 at 10:30 a.m.. Her committal will be at 2:30 p.m. on Monday at the Dysart Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Lutheran Church of Hope Missions. The family is being assisted by the Merle Hay Funeral Home of Des Moines.
