WATERLOO — Ferne V. Abben, 97, of Waterloo, died Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes.

She was born Feb. 15, 1916, in Farnam, Neb., daughter of Marion H. and Sadie M. Doud Harris. She married Donald P. Abben on Aug. 29, 1968, in Des Moines. He died June 19, 2013.

Mrs. Abben graduated from Bible College.

Survived by a son, Dirk (Barb) of Waterloo; a daughter, Sabrina Jackson of Waterloo; nine grandchildren, Trinity (Audrey), Shane, Katrina, Denise, Malinda, Zackary (Andrea), Robert, Trisha and Samantha; four great-grandchildren, Makinzie, Eli, Laikyn and John; two brothers, Lyle (Wanda) Harris of Burlington and Marion (Terry) Harris of New London; a sister, Shirley (James) Fox; and two former daughters-in-law, Geneva and Karen Abben.

Preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Shane Abben; two brothers; and six sisters.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Garden View Chapel and for an hour before services Friday at the church.
