[Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier, Sunday, February 19, 2006]

WATERLOO - Elda Mae Easler Kraling, 91, of Waterloo, daughter of Edward Delroy and Myrtle Mae Benson Easler, was born on August 18, 1914, on the family farm which had been homesteaded by her grandfather, David Easler, in Winneshiek County, Iowa. She attended rural Fremont #7 Elementary School and graduated from Cresco High School in 1932.

Elda was united in marriage to Percy Kraling on August 18, 1938, at the Big Springs Lutheran Church in rural Harmony, Minnesota. He died on May 13, 1984. The couple first lived and farmed in rural Harmony, and then they completed a 35-year farming career on Elda's "home farm" in rural Winneshiek County. They retired to Harmony for 3 years and then moved to Waterloo in 1976 to be near her daughter and family.

A lifelong priority for Elda was her active involvement in various ministry areas at her home church in Harmony, and then at First Wesleyan Church and Cedar Valley Community Church in Waterloo. Her other community activities included Alternatives Pregnancy Center, the Farm Bureau, and the local Republican Party. She maintained an avid interest in local, national and world current events.

Elda died Thursday, February 16, 2006, at her home in Waterloo of pancreatic cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Kari Ann, in infancy; a son, Roland, at age four; a grandson, Zackary Zane Zbornik; her sister, Hazel; and three brothers, Harold, Merritt and Hubert.

Survivors include her daughter, Karolyn Zbornik of Waterloo; a grandson, Jason Zbornik of Cedar Rapids; and nine nieces and 13 nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service and time of fellowship will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, at Cedar Valley Community Church, 3520 Ansborough Avenue, Waterloo, Iowa. Interment will be at the State Line Cemetery, rural Harmony, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Community Church and the International Bible Givers Bible Fund.
