JESUP —Bessie L. Shaw, 81, of 849 Church St., died Friday, Dec. 28, 1990, at Allen Memorial Hospital after a heart attack.

She was born Sept. 12, 1909, in Howard County near Cresco, daughter of James and Edna Huckins Long.

She married Kenneth Shaw on July 7, 1929, in Mason City. She was employed as a janitor for the John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 25 years before retiring in 1971. She was a graduate of Cresco High School.

She is survived by her husband; a son, David of Waterloo; a daughter, Norma Memec of San Bernadino, Calif.; a half-brother, Arthur Shields of Cresco; three grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, Earl, Frank and James; two sisters, Kathryn Fisher and Florence Gardes; and a grandson, Roger Shaw.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Monday at First United Presbyterian Church. Memorials may be directed to the family. There will be no visitation. The body was cremated. Parker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
