CEDAR FALLS - Irene Louise Montz, 81, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, April 23, 2000, at the Lutheran Home of natural causes.

She was born May 9, 1918, in Yeuer, daughter of Alex and Marie Ditzel Glasnapp. She married James Ray Montz on April 17, 1939, in Ringsted. He died Feb 23, 1989.

Mrs. Montz received a teaching certificate from Iowa State Teacher's College (University of Northern Iowa) and earned a bachelor's degree from Drake University, Des Moines. She taught in Whitten for a white and retired after 30 years of teaching in the Estherville School System in 1983. She and her husband also farmed in the Gruver-Whitten area.

Survived by four sons, David of Cedar Falls, Eldon of Duncanville Texas James of Topsham, Maine, and Roger of Newton; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Raymond and Allen Glasnaoo both of Ringgsted.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with burial in East Side Cemetery, both in Estherville. Friends may call for a hour before services Wednesday at the church. Richardson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Endowment for Youth at the church in Estherville.
