George B. Strayer, 81, former Waterloo realtor and father of Hazel B. Strayer, associate professor of speech at Iowa State Teachers College, died at his home in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Thursday afternoon. Death was due to a heart ailment.

He was born in Johnstown, Pa., in 1864. In 1886 he married Martha Jane Byers. He was engaged in the real estate business in Waterloo until 1911, when he moved to Canada. He engaged in farming there on an extensive scale during the summer months, spending the winters in Florida.

He was active in the real estate business in Ft. Lauderdale up to the time of his death.

Survivors, in addition to the daughter in Cedar Falls, are his wife, two sons, Ralph W. of Rock Springs, Wyo., and Carl J. of Drinkwater, Sask., Canada, and a daughter, Mrs. A. E. Kubeck, Oklahoma City, Okla. There are also seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Two sons, Paul Eugene and Harold Harrison, the latter a Waterloo resident, preceded him in death.

A granddaughter, Virginia, daughter of the late Harold Strayer, is now living in Waterloo.

Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

Funeral services for George B. Strayer, 81, former Waterloo realtor, father of Hazel Strayer, associate professor of speech at Iowa State Teachers College, who died at his home in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Thursday, will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Locke & Nelson Funeral Home. Rev. Virgil E. Meyer, pastor of First Brethren Church, Waterloo, will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The family has requested no flowers.
