WATERLOO — Henry J. "Hank" Brandhorst, 81, of Waterloo died Friday, Feb. 10, 2006, at Covenant Medical Center from complications of surgery.

Hank was born June 9, 1924, in Dinsdale, son of Henry L. and Wilma Crownover Brandhorst. He married Jane DuBois Jan 16, 1941, in Waterloo. She preceded him in death Sept 10, 1988. He married Kay Fogle Oct. 7, 1989, in Waterloo.

Mr. Brandhorst was a veteran of the Army and owned and operated Brandhorst Motors for 37 years.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Rodger L (Betty) and Richard D. (Joyce), both of Waterloo; a stepson, Kevin (Karen) Motsinger of Waterloo; a daughter, Rita M. (Tom) Zilmer of Waterloo; a stepdaughter, Audrey (Paul) Burger of Gilbertville; six grandchildren; six step grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Hazel Mae (Gareld) Robinson of Reinbeck and Pauline (Guy) Cameron of Rockaway Beach, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Janie Brandhorst of Waterloo; and two brothers-in-law, Francis Diggins of Rockaway Beach and Howard Smock of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; five brothers. Bill, Harold "Brandy", Virgil Gordie and Bob; and a sister, Elsie Diggins.

Services: 10:30 am Tuesday at the Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Evansdale AMVETS Post No. 31 arid Waterloo AMVETS Post No. 19. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and for an hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home
