CEDAR FALLS - Mildred Catherine Tomson, 93, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Belmond, Waterloo and Fort Dodge, died June 18 at Windsor Nursing & Rehab Center.

She was born March 1, 1914, in Belmond, daughter of Meno and Kate Pals Frohling. On June 14, 1939, she married Royce A. Tomson in Belmond. He died April 25, 2002.

Mrs. Tomson received her one-year teaching certificate from Iowa State Teachers College (UNI). She taught country school in Pleasant Township for four years and in later years was employed at Black's Department Store, Waterloo. She was past president of A.B.W.A. and The Guild and Mayflower Circle at First Congregational Church in Fort Dodge. She was a member of Watanee.

Survivors include three sons, Royce G. (Lynn) of Elk Grove, Calif., Farol N. (Kathleen) of Gainesville, Fla., and Rodney W. (Ruth) of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren, Charles (Kristi) Tomson, Daniel (Shane Booker) Tomson, Farol L. Tomson, Elizabeth (Alain) Sergile, Eric (Kelly) Tomson and Royce T. Tomson; and eight great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Megan, Maddie and Kate Tomson, Tessa, Sebastian and Ian Sergile, and Samantha Tomson.

Preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, Esther, Ruth and Irma.

Public visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Immanuel Reformed Church, Belmond. Burial took place in June in the church cemetery. Richardson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
