Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Kearns-Dykeman Chapel for Merle C. (Bud) Jenks, 42, of 216 Shaulis Road who was dead on arrival at Allen Memorial Hospital at 9 p.m. Tuesday after suffering a heart attack. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Thursday.

He was born in Brandon on October 27, 1927, the son of Budd and Nellie Sellers Jenks. He was educated in the Brandon schools. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in Korea with the Army and achieved the rank of Sergeant. He was a member of VFW Post 1623, and Post 714 of Gilbertville.

He married Bertha Helsel on Nov. 27, 1959 in Dakota City, Neb. He was recently promoted to general foreman of maintenance of way with the Waterloo Railroad, where he had been employed for 25 years.

He is survived by his widow, Bertha, who is office secretary of the Chamber of Commerce, and four sisters: Mrs. Allen Dorman of Brandon, Mrs. Calvin Brooks, of Shipman, Ill., Mrs. Marion Bagenstos of Vinton, and Mrs. Melvin Phelps of La Porte City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister.
