WATERLOO — Gale W. Garrison, 86, of Waterloo, died at home Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013.

He was born Aug. 5, 1927, in Ontario, Iowa, son of Fred and Genevieve Gilchrist Garrison. He married Gladys Grimm on Aug. 16, 1946, in Osage.

Mr. Garrison owned and operated Gale’s Appliance Service for 28 years before going to work for John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works as a security guard for 17 years, retiring in 1990. He served in the U.S. Navy during both World War II and the Korean War.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Cindy Mayer and Debbie (Randy) Lee, both of Waterloo; three grandsons, Matt and Lee, and Tyler Mayer; a great-granddaughter, Alexandria Lee; and two brothers, Richard (Myrna) Garrison of Keizer, Ore., and Warren (Beverly) Garrison of Redmond, Wash.

Preceded in death by an infant son; a brother, Donald; and a sister, Janice Fravel.

Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Kimball Avenue United Methodist Church, with inurnment in Waterloo Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Locke Funeral Home.
