James R. "Jamie" Kokotan, 40, of Cedar Falls, died at his home Monday, May 17, 2010, of heart failure. James Robert Kokotan was born April 4, 1970, in Waterloo, son of Karl J. and Roberta Kemmerer Kokotan.

Jamie graduated from Dysart High School in 1988. He was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy in 1991, but never complained. He loved to tear around on wheels, first his bicycle, later his moped, eventually his wheelchair and riding on motorcycles. Jamie was sweet and sensitive, kind ( he had donated his hair to Locks of Love on more than one occasion). He loved movies and playing video games, and was proud of his independence.

Jamie worked at Adults, Inc, later North Star Community Services for 22 years.

Jamie is survived by; his mother, Roberta Tjaden of Waterloo; father Karl (Char) Kokotan of Waterloo; sister Penny Stueve of Waterloo; step sister Kelly (Joe) Roy of Traer; step sister Koral (Ron) Sienknecht of Cedar Falls; step sister Kym (Dan) Kopriva of Traer; and grandparents; Robert & Jeanette Kemmerer of Waterloo; aunt Lisa Newman of Dewar; and aunt Sheila Kemmerer of Washburn.

Services: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Locke Funeral Home. Visitation for an hour before the service at the funeral home. Cemetery inurnment following cremation at Garden of Memories Cemetery Waterloo, Iowa

Memorials to North Star Community Services or Cedar Bend Humane Society.
