William Gott Lamb, 83, died at 8:25 a. m. Tuesday at Schoitz Memorial Hospital, after a lingering illness.

He was born at Viroqua, Wis., on Feb. 20, 1872, the son of Joseph and Sarah Whipple* Lamb. He married Miss Freda Adamowsky in Lincoln, Neb., in 1895. She preceded him in death on Oct. 7, 1928.

He was a master mechanic for the Chicago Great Western RR, in Oelwein, for ten years before coming to Waterloo. He was a master mechanic for the Waterloo, Cedar Falls & Northern RR, from 1909 until May 1, of this year, when he retired. He was a member of the Elks, the Odd Fellows and the Universalist Church.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Charlette Benham of 410 Logan Ave., four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, three sisters and two brothers.

Funeral arrangements are tentatively set for Thursday at the O'Keefe & Towne Funeral Home.

Funeral services for William G. Lamb of 411 E. 8th St., will be at .8 p. m. Thursday at O'Keefe and Towne Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles E Luce, assistant pastor of Grace Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

*There is a discrepancy in Sarah's maiden name between the 1925 Iowa census, which is clearly spelled Wilcox, versus William's obituary, which spells it Whipple.
