GILBERTVILLE — Services for Stella K. Schaefer, 85, of 6242 E. Washburn Road, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Church, Gilbertville, with burial in church cemetery. She died Thursday afternoon (Aug. 10, 1989) at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, of heart failure.

She was born June 30, 1904, near Gilbertville, daughter of William and Anna Girsch Schares. She married Victor Schaefer on April 20, 1927, in Gilbertville. He died April 26, 1968.

Survivors include two sons, Tom of Gilbertville and Roman of Washburn; three daughters, Joan Rourke of Fairbank, Cleola "Kitty" Robb of Raymond and Lois Schares of Gilbertville; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; three sisters, Rose Youngblut, Beatrice Weiden and Teresa Bauler; and a brother, Dallas Schares.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. Saturday and after 10 a.m. Sunday at Oppold Funeral Home, Waterloo, where there will be rosaries at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, and 3 and 8 p.m. Sunday, and a Scripture service at 7 p.ml .Sunday. Visitation also will be at the church an hour before services.

Memorials may be made to the church or Don Bosco High School.
