WATERLOO — Walter F. Rogers, 84, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at Lakeview Landing.

He was born June 1, 1929, in Spencer, son of Walter F. and Lydia Walters Rogers. He married Kathleen Schilling on Aug. 21, 1950, at St. John Catholic Church, Waterloo. She died Sept. 20, 1974. He married Jean C. Owens Glenn on Oct. 23, 1975, at St. Edward Catholic Church. She died Nov. 27, 2005.

Mr. Rogers graduated from Marathon High School, Marathon, and served during the Korean War with the U.S. Army. He worked at Rath Packing Co. for 33 years as a transportation coordinator, and then for the Waterloo School System for 10 years as a custodian.

Survived by two daughters, Janet (Gordy) Boge of Charles City and Mary (Nick) Sullivan of Waterloo; six sons, Jim of Waterloo, Joel (Jane) of Lenexa, Kan., Tom (Terri Dattilo) and Bill (Pam) both of Scottsdale, Ariz., Walt (Jenny) of Cedar Falls and Tim (Dawn) of Gilbert, Ariz.; 28 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ralph (Helen) of Alden; a brother-in-law, Don (Barb) Schilling of Elk Run Heights; a sister-in-law, Pat (Bob) Ilten of Kansas; a stepdaughter-in-law, Maricar Glenn of California; a stepson-in-law, Scott Wilson of Santa Barbara, Calif.; and four stepgrandchildren.

Preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Barbara Wilson; and two stepsons, Curt and Bill Glenn.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also for an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
